Monadnock Music is a meeting place where listeners, performers, and composers come together each summer to nurture a vision of what our collective musical life can be. The ideal of making the best in music available to everyone is the driving force behind Monadnock Music. Of the thirty-plus concerts, fully half of them are free of charge and occur in the central meetinghouses and churches of the many small towns that dot the region. In the central town of Peterborough, a weekend ticketed series presents music of many genres, from recitals to choral and orchestral concerts, even the occasional opera.

In the early autumn of 1958 a loose knit group of fine artists numbering fewer than a dozen, gathered on the town common in Keene to display their paintings and art work. The city of Keene provided wooden snow fencing around the Central Square and the artists hung their work on the reddish slats for all to see. The sun filtered through the turning Autumn leaves and a tradition painted itself into the town's history.

Pickle Festival

An old-fashioned town fair. The Winchester’s annual Pickle Festival is fun for all. Downtown Winchester becomes the fairgrounds, with Main Street (Route 10) the parade route. Kids march along with the parade, which features local pickle-themed floats, plenty of pickle costumes and marching bands. Along the route are craftsmen (many demonstrating), food booths, and a lively competition among local cooks for the best jar of pickles. There are free pickles for everyone. Live music goes on all day, with everything from blues and country-western to a barbershop quartet and violin ensemble. To Find the Pickles All events take place on Main Street (Route 10) in Winchester. Winchester is south of Keene – just follow Route 10 south from the Route 101 intersection.

7th Annual Hillsborough Open Studio Tour
Location: Hillsborough area

The annual Open Studio Tour is a two day event and is a self guided tour of artist studios all within a 20 mile radius of the downtown Hillsborough area. Many of the artist will be demonstrating their craft. The hours of the studio tour on Saturday and Sunday are 10am -5pm

The Open Studio Art Tour happens each October on Columbus Day weekend during the peak of the beautiful foliage season in southwestern New Hampshire. Each year, around 50 artists who live and work in the towns around Mount Monadnock - Dublin, Marlborough, Harrisville, Hancock, Peterborough and Jaffrey - participated in the Tour, representing the remarkable range and diversity of the visual arts in our region.

The Hillsborough Area Artisans Spring Into Summer Faire takes place under tents & in studios in the Historic Hillsborough Center and features HAA artisans as well as many juried guest artisans. The faire will include baskets, jewelry, blown glass, fabric art; paintings, pottery, photography; woodburning, blacksmithing, and more. In addition to artist displays in outdoor tents there will be artisans in the Center Club. Also several artisans at hosted in the Gallery at Wellsweep. Gibson Pewter and Sissi Studio, both located in Hillsboro Center, will also be open during the faire. Refreshments will be available in the Center Club: Coffee, tea, cold drinks, pastries, German soft pretzels and a special lunch menu will be served by German John's Bakery.
